Overcoming a bad habit, attitude, pattern of behaviour or speech, or any temptation is not easy, but it is possible. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB

The power that raised Christ from the dead, dwells in me.(Romans 8:11)  I am not left on my own to do this. And I have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)  I can think differently. I can choose to think like Jesus!

It comes down to a choice I need to make, want to make and am ready to make. I can stop. Together with God’s grace, power and the support and accountability of others, I can do it.
I choose to STOP. I choose to say, NO. I choose to let go of mindsets, beliefs and conclusions that are lies, that are faulty and are not serving me well. And I choose to start believing what is true, right, good and lines up with the Word of God.

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13 WEB

“Nothing is impossible with God” Luke 1:37 NLT, therefore together with God, it can be done.

The grace of God, “teaches us to say, ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,”  Titus 2:12 NIV

Along with my, ‘NO’, I choose to trust. I choose to believe, it is possible, I can do it, I will do it, because I believe in the Word of God, and I trust in God’s strength and I rely on His power. I will also meditate, declare and confess the above truths. I can say them out loud, so I hear myself. I can look in the mirror, eyeball to eyeball and speak these realities to myself. This will help ingrain the truth into my mind and spirit as I embrace God’s enabling power to do what is right.

I choose to  believe I can and will overcome my bad habit, attitude, pattern of behaviour or speech, or temptation. God has identified me as an over comer and more than a conqueror.  This is who I am and who I choose to be. I will run the race and win the prize. I will triumph over my enemies. (Romans 8:37, 1 Corinthians 9:24, Hebrews 12:1, Psalm 118:7)

I will progress and move forward. I will stop, I will do things differently. I can do new things and create healthy habits and a new lifestyle. It’s my choice. I choose to change and be transformed. This is God’s desire for us and our destiny.

“Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.”  Romans 12:2 WEB
